Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies are investigating a car-deer collision in which the vehicle caught fire on a rural road.
Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Nick Martoccia was sent to the accident at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 13000 block of Becks Grove Road. A white Honda CRV driven by Aimie Heltman, 39, Freetown, caught fire after hitting the deer, deputies said.
Heltman was not injured and was able to get belongings out of the vehicle before it caught fire, deputies said. Southwest Volunteer Fire Department, Brown County Fire Department and Harrison Township Fire Department put out the fire and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
