PHILADELPHIA, Miss. — A cellmate has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of a Choctaw tribal member.

A Neshoba County jury convicted Justyn Schlegel, 36, in the July 2015 death of Rexdale Henry. The 53-year-old member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians was found dead in the Neshoba County jail in July 2015 from blunt force trauma.

The Neshoba Democrat reports Chief Medical Examiner Mark Levaughn testified Henry had broken bones, a lacerated spleen and lacerated diaphragm, and couldn’t have survived more than five hours.

Defense attorney Rosalind Jordan said Schlegel had no reason to kill Henry, and suggested Henry was injured when jailers pushed him.

Assistant District Attorney Chris Posey told jurors that the pushes didn’t line up with the evidence.

Schlegel will be sentenced Nov. 27.
