LAS VEGAS — A former boys soccer coach at a Las Vegas school has been arrested for sexual misconduct with a 14-year-old girl.

Authorities said Friday that 25-year-old Juan Alfredo Chavez has been charged with one count of felony lewdness committed by a person over 18 with a child age 14 or 15.

He has been booked into jail and it is not immediately known if he has an attorney.

According to Las Vegas police, the 14-year-old victim said Chavez tried to touch and kiss her near a school baseball field several times on Oct. 20.

Clark County School District police arrested him at his home.

Chavez was a volunteer coach for boys junior varsity soccer at Ed W. Clark High School since December 2010.

He is now banned from all district property.
