MORGAN, Utah — A Weber County teen has died after his vehicle collided with a semitrailer near Morgan.

The Deseret News reports that the collision happened Friday morning on I-84, which was slushy from an icy rain.

According to authorities, 17-year-old Hyrum Rasmussen had lost control of his Hyunadi Sonata around 10 a.m.

His vehicle ended up sliding sideways and crashing into the semitrailer, which was stopped in the emergency lane.

The Utah Highway Patrol says Rasmussen, who lives in Taylor, was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the semitrailer was not injured.
