• IUCA+D for being such a great partner and elevating the conversation about the importance of Columbus architecture, from Exhibit Columbus.

• the couple who bought breakfast for my girlfriend and me Monday morning at IHOP.

• the school that hires four dads of current or future players to coach a sports team, and to those dads for the 37 years of high school coaching experience before any of yours kids were even in high school.

• Milestone and the on-site project engineer for a job well done along Rocky Ford Road, making it a safer road for all to enjoy.

• the conservation officer, nurse and others who assisted me after my traffic accident Friday, demonstrating Columbus hospitality in action.

• the wonderful group that came and cleaned up my yard at no charge.

• Dr. Eric Poplin and his staff, especially the receptionists, for being able to get me in on short notice the same day.

• Holly at Kroger for her kindness and helpful attitude, from the woman in the wheelchair Monday morning.

• Sheena at Meridian Title for outstanding customer service, from Gregg.

• the 16-year-old cashier working at Walmart on Whitfield Drive for paying the last $8.72 on my $430 purchase when my cards were declined, from the mom and baby Jerrylyn.

• all who donated items for the Yellow Trail Museum Bake Sale during Christmas of Yesteryear and making it a huge success, from the museum board.

• Hope Utilities employees, Hope Police Department, Hope Volunteer Fire Department and the Town of Hope for all their hard work to make Christmas of Yesteryear so special, from the Yellow Trail Museum board.

• Steve Schuder for helping a woman retrieve the other half of her receipt, which was stuck in the gas pump, preventing someone else from seeing the last four digits of her debit card.

• to the Tony Sanders family for being a true family.

• all the volunteers, actors, narrators, carolers and presenters who made Hope’s Christmas of Yesteryear happen, from the Yellow Trail Museum board.

• all Hope’s merchants, businessmen and sponsors who participated and/or supported this year’s Christmas of Yesteryear, from the Yellow Trail Museum board.

Onions to …

• people who do not understand that the estate tax is nothing more than a government rooted in envy.

• the city for choosing art and architecture over efficiency and functionality, such as with the Fourth Street brick work.

• the house on Columbus’ east side that is piled with tons of junk and broken windows, when efforts are underway to beautify that area.

• those who drop young animals in the cold weather with no food, no shelter, no warmth and a lot of fear.
