QUINCY, Mass. — A 92-year-old woman is recovering from a broken sternum after police say she was pushed down and robbed in Massachusetts.
Authorities say the robbery happened around 8:30 a.m. Sunday in Quincy. Doris Prendiville told police she was walking home when a man threw her to the ground and ran away with her purse.
A woman helped Prendiville back into her building, but police say the seemingly good Samaritan may have been connected to the crime. Surveillance video captured the woman speaking with the suspect shortly before the robbery.
WHDH-TV reports a nearby resident found Prendiville’s purse in a dumpster. Police say it was missing $30 to $50.
Prendiville has been hospitalized for her injuries. Her daughter says the woman is in pain, but she is in good spirits.
