DURHAM, N.C. — A deer that broke into a North Carolina mall and became stuck in a metal gate is going to be euthanized.

Authorities tell local media outlets that the deer broke through a glass door into Northgate Mall in Durham on Wednesday morning and was stuck in a gate near the mall’s carousel.

No mall workers were injured, but officials think the deer hurt itself when it crashed through the door. A large pool of blood was seen on the floor.

Animal control workers tranquilized the deer and removed it from the gate.

The N.C. Wildlife Commission said the deer suffered multiple cuts and would have to be put down.
