NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — A car crashed over an embankment in South Carolina, killing two people and injuring a third person.

Police in North Augusta told local media outlets the wreck happened around 6 a.m. Wednesday. Lt. Tim Thornton said police found the victims already dead when officers got to the vehicle.

Thornton said the third person in the car was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The names of those involved have not been released.

Thornton said it appears the driver was speeding.
