BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Joshua Filmore, in his second game back from a serious knee injury, scored 19 points, including a pair of key free throws with 10 seconds left as Southeastern Louisiana edged Samford 77-71 on Friday in the Savannah Invitational.

Filmore missed all of last season and the start of this one before playing at Kent State Tuesday. He went scoreless at Kent State but his return has Southeastern Louisiana (3-3) on a two-game win streak.

Jordan Capps also scored 19 and Marlain Veal scored 15 with 10 assists and four steals.

Demetrius Denzel-Dyson led Samford with 23 points, Justin Coleman added 15, Alex Thompson 12 and Eric Adams 10 with three blocked shots, two coming late in the game as Samford rallied into a 59-59 tie. The Bulldogs (1-5) have lost four in a row.

Samford had closed to 73-70 before Filmore hit the clutch free throws.
