GARLAND, Texas — Investigators say four people from North Texas have died in a Dallas-area house fire that started on a patio.
A Garland Fire Department statement says the bodies of two adults and two children were found early Saturday. Five other people in the home escaped.
A neighbor across the street called 911 to report the fire shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday. Authorities traced the fire to an enclosed back patio and don’t believe the blaze was intentional.
The cause remains under investigation.
Fire department officials say the victims were visiting from Bridgeport, 80 miles (128 kilometers) northwest of Garland, and were asleep in a rear bedroom.
Names of the four people who died and further details on their relationship weren’t immediately released.
