FRANKLIN
Nancy L. (Trankle) Kirklin, 64, passed away Sunday morning, November 26, 2017, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Franklin.
Nancy was born October 19, 1953, in Omaha, Nebraska, to the late Robert J. “Bob” and Anne K. (Winter) Trankle.
She was a 1971 graduate of Franklin Community High School. Nancy received her bachelor’s degree in education from Franklin College and went on to earn her master’s degree in education from IUPUI.
Nancy retired in 2007 as a teacher for Blue River Special Ed Co-op in Shelbyville after 15 years of service.
She was a member of the Community Congregational Church in Franklin where she participated in many mission trips.
Nancy was also a member of the Society of the Descendents of the Schwenkfelders in Pennsylvania.
A lifelong advocate of nutrition and healthy living, Nancy opened the Franklin Cornucopia Health Food Store in 1993, which she owned and operated for eight years.
Nancy enjoyed the outdoors by hiking, camping and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and chickens. She also enjoyed traveling, exercising and researching genealogy.
Above all, her primary passion was spending time with her grandchildren.
Nancy married William R. “Bill” Kirklin on December 27, 1974, on her husband’s family farm in Needham Township. He survives after 42 happy and loving years of marriage.
She is also survived by her children, Taylor (Vivian) Kirklin of Brooklyn, New York and Anna (Tim) Denoyer of Columbus; sisters, Betty (Keith) Mardis of Springfield, Missouri and Janet (Bill) Phillips of Mitchell; and her grandchildren, Gracen, Clara, Alex and Bennett.
The Rev. Dan McLaughlin will conduct a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Community Congregational Church, 4592 N. Hurricane Road in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
