SALT LAKE CITY — The Latest on a homicide at a downtown hotel (all times local):
Police have identified a 25-year-old woman as the victim of an apparent homicide at a downtown Salt Lake City hotel.
Salt Lake City police said Wednesday morning that Mechelle Lindberg’s body was found at the Gateway Inn a day earlier.
Police say they’re looking for two people who had been in the area with Lindberg and associated with her.
Det. Greg Wilking says police are investigating the death as a homicide because of suspicious circumstances but he declined to offer details.
Salt Lake City police are searching for two people of interest in connection with an apparent homicide at a downtown hotel.
The woman who died at the Gateway Inn on Tuesday has not been identified.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports police are looking for 26-year-old Kristie Marie Hansen and 29-year-old Javier Rodriquez Pena.
Police Det. Greg Wilking says the two had been in the area with the victim and were associated with her.
Wilking says someone called police to report a “person down” at 8:41 a.m. Tuesday at the hotel near 800 West on North Temple.
He says the victim was in her 20s. He says they’re investigating the death as a homicide because of suspicious circumstances in the room but he declined to provide any details.
