A local man being sought on a Bartholomew County warrant was arrested after fleeing on a bicycle from Columbus police officers.

Columbus Police Officer Travis Harbaugh saw Thomas D. Crouch, 46, Columbus, riding a bicycle near Seventh Street and Central Avenue just before 9 a.m. Wednesday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Harbaugh noted Crouch had a local warrant for his arrest, but Crouch took off on the bicycle as Harbaugh attempted to stop him.

A pursuit began and additional officers arrived and saw Crouch in the 2100 block of Seventh Street, Harris said.

Officers again ordered Crouch to stop, but he refused to do so, Harris said. One of the officers used an electroshock weapon to disable him and arrested him a short time later.

After Crouch was medically cleared at Columbus Regional Hospital, he was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement and the warrant out of Bartholomew Superior Court 2.
