Brian’s picks – November 30

1) Who doesn’t love a good, old-fashioned Christmas parade and a holiday village with electric trains, children’s games and more? The Festival of Lights Christmas Village gets underway at 1 p.m. Saturday at The Commons, 300 Washington St. The Festival of Lights Parade, with Santa, high school marching bands and just enough bright twinkles to make the holiday shine, begins at 6 p.m. QMIX Musical Fireworks begins about 7:15 p.m. from City Hall. All activities free.

2) Hometown vocalist-turned-Broadway performer Marja Harmon sang to a sold-out crowd the last time she performed with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic four years ago. She returns for the orchestra’s ever-popular Christmas concerts, billed as “Home For the Holidays,” with sax player Clayton Stine at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at the local Judson Erne Auditorium, 1400 25th St, in Columbus.
