City officials working with the Indiana Department of Transportation said work on the widening of a 3.8-mile section of National Road through Columbus could possibly begin as early as 2009.

1992

Columbus Board of Works and Safety declared an emergency so it could approve a $35,000 no-bid contract to repair a ladder an aerial fire truck and also approved a $66,432 bid from a Michigan company for 12 video camera units to be installed in police patrol cars.

Indiana Blue Cross reported patients at Bartholomew County Hospital paid about $76 less and were released quicker than those at comparably sized hospitals around the state.
