Bartholomew County residents love to share photos of their trips near and far, whether they’re of nature during a hike along a local path, or of stunning views of Europe or other foreign countries. Longtime Columbus residents Dave Borcherding and Susan Pickens enjoyed the 2016 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in New Mexico so much that they shared images they captured with their cameras. The festival, conducted each October, is the most photographed event in the world. Borcherding and Pickens attended Oct. 5, 2016. They arrived at the grounds about 6 a.m., when the sky was completely dark and the temperature was in the low 30s. During three-plus hours, they saw between 400 and 500 hot air balloons launched.
