School bus in minor accident; no children on bus

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. bus was involved in a minor property damage accident this morning at Fourth and Sycamore streets, police said.

No children were on the bus, which was in the vicinity of St. Peter’s Lutheran School when the accident occurred, said Lt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the Columbus Police Department.

The bus driver was approaching a stop sign to pick up a child at about 7:40 a.m. As the driver merged into the right lane, the back end of the bus hit the rearview mirror on the driver’s side of the car, and the front bumper, said Karen Wetherald, Bartholomew Consolidated transportation manager. The bus suffered no damage, she added.
