NORWICH, Vt. — A group of residents and officials in a Vermont town are teaming up to create a new public path to link a nature area to a local school district’s athletic fields.

The Valley News reports the proposed trail would pass behind a number of homes and is described as an opportunity to open up unused forests for Norwich’s use. Brie Swenson, a Norwich Trails Committee member who helped lead the initiative, said last week the trail would be geared toward children, but would also be open for general use.

Swenson says planners are still working out details on the proposed trail, including its name and some of its future uses.

The Recreation Department and Trails Committee are raising money to finish up the project.
