Roger B. England, 80, of Columbus, died at 8:47 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

He was born March 11, 1937, in Edmonton, Kentucky.

On June 21, 1957, he married Catherine “Katy” Burton, whom he met when they were 15 years old riding bicycles in Columbus.

He was the former owner of Roger’s Sunoco in Columbus. He also worked at Golden Foundry and Dolly Madison Bakery, and was a salesman for Fletcher Auto Sales.

He was an NHRA/IHRA winner and former record holder in drag racing.

He is survived by his wife, Katy; children, Roger Dale (Gina) England of Lexington, Kentucky, and Rhonda England of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Jessica (Eric) Salo, Cassie (A. J.) Glubzinski, Grace Kesler, Jesse (Stacy) Moore and Ashley (T. J.) Elbert; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Lester (JoAnn) England, and sisters, Betty Whittington and Jeanette Ferrenburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Dorothy M. England; sister, Wanda Coy; and great-grandson, Lincoln Salo.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Barkes, Weaver, & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Adam Carrigan officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Family and friends may call Friday, December 8, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
