CAMDEN, N.J. — Investigators say a police officer in New Jersey was justified in shooting and wounding a disabled man who was wielding a meat cleaver at a senior citizen home.
Police in August responded to the B’nai B’rith Chesilhurst House for a report that 60-year-old resident Daniel McOsker was threatening two female employees in the management office.
Camden County’s prosecutor says officers went to his apartment and repeatedly ordered McOsker to drop the cleaver. The prosecutor says he ignored the commands and raised his arm while crawling toward the officers. An officer shot and wounded him in the thigh due to his proximity.
Officers later learned McOsker was crawling because he is disabled.
McOsker faces several charges.
