Witness helps police locate, arrest 2 men after pursuit

A witness who saw two men taking iron and metal items from a farm on County Road 650N called sheriff’s deputies and followed them to a local mobile home park where the two fled on foot.

Bartholomew County sheriff’s deputy Jeff Tindell was sent to the Tannehill Mobile Home Park about the theft at 9:24 a.m. Wednesday, deputies said.

Deputies and Indiana State Police searched the area and Deputy Kevin Abner found them in a field behind the Red Roof Inn on U.S. 31, deputies said. They were identified as George J. Reese, 40, Edinburgh, and Adam N. Gaskins, 24, Edinburgh, and were found in the parking lot, deputies said.

Reese was arrested on preliminary charge of theft and has been released from the Bartholomew County Jail.

Gaskins was also arrested on a preliminary charge of theft and is being held at the jail in lieu of $5,000 bond, jail officials said.

The metal and iron objects were returned to the property owner, deputies said.
