Alice Truax

Alice Truax, 93, of Columbus, formerly of Martinsville, died December 6, 2017, at Kindred Care Center where she resided for the last three years.

Alice worked several different places over the years. The Baptist Book store in Nashville was her favorite, but she also enjoyed being a cook in the Martinsville school system.

She loved yard sales and couldn’t pass up a good deal.

She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Columbus and past member of Liberty Christian Church in Martinsville.

Alice was born in Chicago on March 8, 1924 to John and Ruby Sacher.

As a small child her family moved to Memphis, Tennessee where she lived until her marriage to Charles LeMay in 1942. They lived in several towns in Tennessee, including Nashville and Lascassas, and Indiana towns, including Washington, Milan and Martinsville.

Charles preceded her in death August 15, 1971.

She married Jack Truax August 31, 1974, and he preceded her in death February 3, 2011.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandy (Larry) Miller, Carol (LeMay)Watson (Robert Watson – deceased), stepchildren, Mike (Linda) Truax, Mary (George) Arnold, Kathy (Pete) Marker, Kim (Rick) Garner; and several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by a daughter Ruby Jean LeMay.

A memorial service and a celebration of life will be held at Memorial Baptist Church in Columbus on Sunday December 10 at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor David Brown officiating.
