Library receives ‘Frankenstein’ grant

The Bartholomew County Public Library is among more than 70 organizations that have been awarded grants through Indiana Humanities as part of a statewide book reading program.

The library received a $1,000 Community Read grant that will allow it to hold at least three community programs tied to the book “Frankenstein” in 2018, including a book discussion. Each site awarded funding will also receive up to 50 books and items such as bookmarks and posters to promote the programs.

The grants are part of the year-long “One State/One Story: Frankenstein” program initiated by Indiana Humanities in partnership with the Indiana State Library and Center for the Book.

“Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley was first published in 1818.
