Kwanzaa celebration at library

The Bartholomew County Area Chapter of the NAACP will celebrate Kwanzaa with a gathering open to all from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 28 in the Red Room of the Bartholomew County Library, 536 Fifth St. in Columbus. Kwanzaa is a Swahili word that means “first” and signifies the first fruits of the harvest. It is observed Dec. 26 through Jan. 1 as a celebration of family, community and culture, and honors African heritage.
