Letter: GOP tax plan serves needs of top

From: Thomas Talbert

The current House and Senate proposals serve the needs of those at the top and ignore working families, while exposing us to future reductions in education, health care and investments, according to a Dec. 6 Wall Street Journal opinion column by Tom Steyer. Slashing these programs would obviously lead to stunted prosperity and a weakened overall economy, Steyer added.

The GOP tax plan seems to offer rewards, but is actually a sham because 62 percent of the benefits will flow to the top 1 percent. Ultimately, half of the middle-class families will see their tax burden increase over time, Steyer wrote.

Urge your members of Congress to vote “no” to the current tax plans.
