Oren Rork Jr.

NORTH VERNON

Oren Rork, Jr., 74, of North Vernon, died on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.

He was born on October 11, 1943 in Anderson, Indiana, the son of Oren & Mary Ruth (Holcomb) Rork. He married Rita Toops on June 15, 1968 and she survives.

Oren was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Rolling Hills Shrine Club and the Butlerville Masonic Lodge. He retired from Muscatatuck State Developmental School after 20 years, and was also a Farm Bureau Insurance agent before retiring.

Oren Jr. enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching John Wayne westerns and sports, and being with his family and friends. He really treasured his family.

In addition to his wife, survivors include daughters, Lori (Andy) Wilson of Hayden, Sherri (Jeremy) Wager of Vernon; brother, Alan (Diana) Rork of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Smith, Morgan Gibson, George Hukill, Travis and Trey Wilson, Makayla Wager, Autumn Wager, and Jeremiah Wager, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Angel Rork; a granddaughter; sister, Elen Zook; father-in-law, Donald Toops; and brother-in-law, David Toops.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Military Graveside Rites. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rock Creek Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the funeral home to help the family with expenses.
