NEWPORT, Vt. — A Vermont city is working with county officials to make repairs to two of Newport’s most prominent clocks.
At Tuesday’s annual Orleans County budget meeting, City Manager Laura Dolgin said the city plans to have two of their clocks running by next summer’s centennial celebrations. The Caledonian-Record reports the two clocks need varying degrees of repairs — with one clock having not worked for decades.
A third city clock in the state office building is still running.
Dolgin says the Preservation Trust of Vermont has provided a small grant to help fix one of the clocks.
The centennial celebration is June 29 through July 4, 2018.
