Police seek public’s help; detectives need to identify suspect in gas station robbery

Columbus Police Department detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in an armed robbery of a gas station.

Officers responded to an armed robbery call at the Marathon gas station, 1521 State St., at 3:40 p.m. Sunday.

A suspect entered the store and told the cashier that he had a gun and threatened to shoot him. The suspect fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of currency a short time later. A weapon was not displayed in the robbery and the cashier was unharmed, said Lt. Matt Harris, public information officer for Columbus Police Department.

The suspect was described as a white male, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-8 in height, wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and a black ski mask, Harris said.
