‘Last Jedi’ a glactic hit at YES Cinema

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” was a galactic hit in its opening at YES Cinema over the weekend.

Although specific ticket-sales numbers were not immediately available Monday, the film’s opening weekend included several sellouts, spokeswoman Diane Doup said.

Interest in the movie also was apparent by the number of YES Cinema moviegoers dressed in costume, from Storm Troopers to Darth Vader, according to photos posted on social media.

“Sales also already are brisk for this week,” said Diane Doup, community outreach coordinator for Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Family Center, which operates the theater.

The movie debuted nationally over the weekend with the second-largest opening of all-time, according to Box Office Mojo, which tracks such figures. Sales ranked only behind its predecessor, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” which debuted the same weekend two years ago.

Showtimes this week at YES are at 3:45 and 7:01 p.m., according to the schedule. Tickets for evening showings are $4 for children and $6 for adults. Matinee prices for shows that start before 6 p.m. are $4 for all ages.
