LEBANON, Maine — The State Medical Examiner’s Office says a man whose body was found in a burned-out home in southern Maine had killed himself.

Officials say they found the body of 58-year-old James Avery on the second floor when they responded to the fire on Wednesday afternoon. Investigators say Avery set the Lebanon house on fire before shooting himself.

Officials say Avery lived alone in the home. The state police and fire marshals had been investigating his death.
