Students at ABC-Stewart School have raised money and bought Christmas gifts for 11 local families this year.
Working with the United Way of Bartholomew County, ABC-Stewart students participated in a holiday service project with sixth-graders taking the lead, ABC-Stewart Director Mike Gorday said.
In the past, the students exchanged gifts with one another. But this year, the students — with guidance from teachers — decided to donate money to help buy clothes and toys for children from families in need, Gorday said.
The students in Grades 1 to 6 not only donated money to buy gifts, but also wrapped them, Gorday said.
