DOUGLAS, Ariz. — Police in a southeastern Arizona town discovered several packages of marijuana hidden under the hood of pickup truck after the vehicle had caught on fire.

The Sierra Vista Herald reports a motorist called Douglas police on Thursday, reporting a vehicle that appeared to be overheating and smelled of burning marijuana.

Police say they located the pickup that had plates from Mexico, and it was emitting smoke. A fire then erupted.

Douglas firefighters extinguished the blaze and opened the hood to find the marijuana — some had caught on fire.

Police say the driver was detained for questioning but has not been arrested.
