BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Bridgeport Police Chief Armando Perez says his city’s 23rd homicide victim may have known his assailant.

Perez tells the Connecticut Post it won’t be long before the shooter is identified, saying police “have real good video evidence.”

Police were called Saturday morning to the intersection of Kossuth and Maple streets, where they found the victim dead inside the Maple Deli. He was later identified as 22-year-old Khali Davis of Bridgeport.

Police spokesman Av Harris says Davis was standing in front of the store with a small group of people when the shooter approached on foot and opened fire. Perez says surveillance shows the suspect pulling out a gun and shooting Davis in the face.

The city’s previous homicide occurred on Oct. 14. There were 10 homicides in Bridgeport in 2016.
