MERIDIAN, Idaho — A new YMCA that was planned under a partnership of public and private entities is scheduled to open in a city in southwestern Idaho in May.

The Idaho Press-Tribune reports the 60,000-square-foot (5,600-sqaure-meter) facility in the Boise suburb of Meridian is being built as part of project involving the city, the West Ada School District and St. Luke’s Health System.

YMCA officials say a gym will be used by the neighboring Hillsdale Elementary School during school hours.

Officials say St. Luke’s will occupy a section of the YMCA to operate a lifestyle medicine center. This center will include nurse practitioners, classrooms and a transitional gym.

The project is planned to include the Meridian Library District and an aquatic center though officials say funding is still being worked out.
