ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Police in Rochester are investigating the fatal shooting of a man on a city street on Christmas Night.

Authorities say an officer in a patrol vehicle thought he heard gunshots around 5:30 p.m. Monday near an intersection on the city’s west side. The officer made a U-turn and found a man’s body on Genesee Street.

According to police, the victim died at the scene. His identity hasn’t been released.

Investigators worked the crime scene Monday night in frigid conditions. The area of Genesee Street was back open to traffic Tuesday morning.
