SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Authorities have released the name of a man found dead after a fire in a vacant southwest Missouri home.

Cpl. James Craigmyle identified the man as 49-year-old Jeffrey Satterfield, of Springfield. The Springfield News-Leader reports that the cause of Satterfield’s death wasn’t immediately known. The sheriff’s office is still waiting on the findings from the medical examiner.

Satterfield’s body was found last Thursday in a back bedroom after the fire was extinguished in the home that’s near Willard. Willard Fire Chief Ken Scott says the house had been vacant for the past 10 years.
