SALT LAKE CITY — Authorities say dense fog and air pollution are combining to create hazardous conditions in the Salt Lake City area.

The National Weather Service posted a hazardous weather outlook through Wednesday due to fog in western Utah and southwest Wyoming.

The Utah Department of Environmental Quality put pollution levels of particulate dust and soot at unhealthy for sensitive people due to an ongoing weather inversion.

It invoked a ban on burning solid fuel in fireplaces or wood burning stoves, as well as open burning including fire pits and campfires.
