Robert Lynn “Rob” Perkins

Robert Lynn “Rob” Perkins, 69, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:17 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.

He was born February 27, 1948 in Seymour, the son of Richard Glenn and Harriett Ann Huffman Perkins.

He married Debbie Wells on November 18, 1972 at the United Methodist Church in Columbus. She survives.

Mr. Perkins was a 1966 graduate of North Vernon High School in North Vernon and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1972.

He worked at Cummins Engine Co. for 30 years, where he retired as a noise lab technician at the Cummins Tech Center.

Mr. Perkins was a lifetime member of VFW Post No. 2021 in North Vernon and VFW Post No. 1925 in Seymour; he was a 23-year member of American Legion No. 89 in Seymour; a member of Eagles Lodge in North Vernon; and a 30-year member of the Campbell Township Volunteer Fire Department.

He enjoyed trap shooting, farming, working on vehicles, riding motorcycles, racing at Twin City’s Speedway and watching NASCAR.

Surviving with his wife, Debbie Perkins are a son, Matt (Sarah) Perkins of Carmel; brother, Rick (Lisa) Perkins of Seymour; grandchildren, Ethan Perkins, Gideon Perkins and Abraham Perkins, all of Carmel.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service for Mr. Perkins will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, December 30, 2017, from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon with military graveside rites provided by the North Vernon V.F.W. Post No. 2021.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Mercy Rescue and Adoption Inc.
