STANFORD, Calif. — Brittany McPhee had 21 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals to lead Stanford to a 72-65 win over Southern Cal on Sunday.
Alanna Smith and Kiana Williams added 13 points each for the Cardinal (8-6, 2-0 Pac-12) and Marta Sniezek had 10 rebounds. McPhee has 74 points in three games since missing nine with an injury.
USC led by as many as 12 in the first quarter and was up 34-33 but Smith opened the second half with a 3-pointer and the Cardinal never trailed again. McPhee hit a jumper in the final minute of the third quarter to make it 53-50 and opened the fourth quarter with a layup and 3-pointer for an eight point lead. She also had back-to-back inside buckets after the Trojans got within five with under two minutes to go.
Sadie Edwards had 20 points for the Trojans (10-3, 0-2). Aliyah Mazyck added 18 with eight rebounds and Minyon Moore scored 17.
