Donate much-needed blood

Severe winter weather has affected blood donations with as many as 150 blood drives across Indiana canceled due to freezing temperatures or snow, the American Red Cross said.

In addition, seasonal illnesses including the flu have affected donation rates. The Red Cross has a shortfall of about 1,400 blood donations for the month.

Type O negative, Type B negative and Type AB are particularly needed. There are two blood drives planned this month in Bartholomew County:

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at The Commons, 300 Washington St., Columbus.
  • 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hope Moravian Church, 202 Main St., Hope.
