SWIMMING

Olympians sweep Cubs

MADISON — The Columbus East swimmers pulled off a sweep Tuesday at Madison, winning the boys meet 120-54 and the girls contest 122-47.

Zach Statler won the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 22.69 seconds) and 100 butterfly (1:04.35), and Griff McGaha took the 50 freestyle (24.22) and 100 backstroke (1:02.24) to lead the boys. Evan Wieneke captured the 200 freestyle (2:01.68), DJ Rhodes won the diving competition (214.20), Justin Borowski took the 500 freestyle (5:46.12) and East swept the 200 medley (1:49.82), 200 freestyle (1:40.10) and 400 freestyle (3:58.69) relays).

“We had one of our best meets all year,” East boys coach Dave Fribley said. “We had time drops all over the place. The kids were really enthusiastic and went after it. We keep getting better and better.”

For the girls, Lizzy Frazier won the 200 freestyle (2:18.82) and 500 freestyle (6:20.09), Marin Wieneke took the 200 IM (2:45.77) and 100 breaststroke (1:20.22), Whitley Eicher captured the 50 freestyle (27.25) and 100 freestyle (1:00.93) and Jennifer Utterback won the 100 butterfly (1:10.79) and 100 backstroke (1:10.95). The Olympians swept the 200 medley (2:03.43), 200 freestyle (2:03.26) and 400 freestyle (4:12.20) relays.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Jets down Twisters

HOPE — Tessa Sims had 15 points and 15 rebounds to lead Hauser to a 46-27 win against Oldenburg Academy.

Mykenzie Ault added nine points and nine rebounds for the Jets (4-13). Grace Hasler, Sarah Tedder and Bree Hadley all had three steals.

“Our defense was the key tonight,” Hauser coach Brad Hamilton said.

Columbus Christian falls

Columbus Christian led 25-19 after three quarters, but Bloomington Lighthouse rallied for a 39-33 win.

Kayla Jones led the Crusaders (1-9) with 17 points and 14 steals. Grace Lorimor added nine points and 12 rebounds, while Kaitlyn Conrad grabbed 11 rebounds and Ann Marie Gandy had nine rebounds.

Eagles edge Tigers

CROTHERSVILLE — Brown County put four players in double figures in a 60-56 win at Crothersville.

Dasia Wilkerson led the Eagles (7-9) with 19 points. Abby Hollander added 17, while Allison Stogsdill scored 13 and Aubrey Hollander had 11.

Trinity tops Waldron

WALDRON — Trinity Lutheran trailed 17-14 at halftime before rallying for a 49-37 win at Waldron.

Abby Hackman led the Cougars (16-3) with 16 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Lions topple Crusaders

Bloomington Lighthouse jumped out to a 38-23 halftime lead and went on hand Columbus Christian a 69-52 loss.

Conner Emily led the Crusaders (6-14) with 21 points.

WRESTLING

Panthers pin Warriors

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County used seven pins in rolling to a 48-27 senior night win against Whiteland.

Teagan Johnson (106 pounds), Victor Antunez (120), Xavier Barberis (126), Dalton Craig (132), Brooks Wathen (152), Zane Beineke (170) and Logan Askew (195) all won by pin for the Panthers. Rusty Vaughn (145) and Cameron Woodard (160) won by decision.
