SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — One of two Massachusetts brothers facing child pornography charges has been sentenced to 10 years behind bars under a plea deal.

Federal prosecutors say 30-year-old Alex Germaine was also sentenced Tuesday to 10 years of probation. Prosecutors say the harsh sentence was because the Springfield man had previously been convicted of statutory rape.

Germaine’s younger brother, Justin, was the focus of a raid on their home in July 2016, but investigators say they found child pornography images on Alex Germaine’s cellphone and computer discs.

The Republican newspaper reports that Alex Germaine’s lawyer said his client never shared the images and wants treatment in prison.

Justin Germaine, meanwhile, previously pleaded guilty to child exploitation and faces up to 30 years in prison at sentencing on March 21.
