Bull Dogs pin Stars

BEDFORD — Columbus North won nine matches by pin and two others by forfeit Thursday night in rolling to a 66-12 win at Bedford North Lawrence.

Tyler Williams (120 pounds), Keandre Watson (126), Royce Lofton (145), Dylan England (152), Tom Hancock (160), Brigham Kleinhenz (170), Tay Wells (195) and Bradley Gutierrez (220) all won by pin for the Bull Dogs. Morgan Smith (106), Ashton Clark (113), Dallin Anderson (138) won by forfeit.

Panthers handle Owls

SEYMOUR — Jennings County won six matches by pin on its way to a 45-25 victory at Seymour.

Nathaniel McDonald (285), Victor Antunez (120), Xavier Barberis (126), Dalton Craig (132), Zane Beineke (170) and Jake Coffman (220) all won by pin for the Panthers. Joey Moran (138) won by forfeit, and Brooks Wathen (152) won by major decision.

GYMNASTICS

Bull Dogs down Dragons

NEW PALESTINE — Sami Heathcote won two of the four individual events and the all-around to lead third-ranked Columbus North to a 108.025 to 99.225 win at New Palestine.

Heathcote took the vault (9.2) and floor (9.2) and finished second on the bars (9.25) and beam (9.2) on her way to capturing the all-around with a 36.85. Claire Thompson battled illness while winning the bars (9.675) and finishing second on the vault (9.0), third on the beam (9.15) and second in the all-around (35.4).

Tova Edwards finished fourth in the all-around (33.6).

SWIMMING

Olympians, Owls split

Columbus East split a dual match with Seymour. The Olympians won the girls meet 97-83, and the Owls took the boys meet 98-87.

Whitley Eicher won the 200-yard freestyle (2 minutes, 11.34 seconds) and the 100 butterfly (1:02.11), and Jennifer Utterback took the 200 individual medley (2:30.89) and the 100 freestyle (58.73) to lead the East girls. Lizzy Frazier won the 50 freestyle (26.21), Maggie Gregory took the diving (195.50) and Marin Wieneke captured the 100 breaststroke (1:15.52). The Olympians also won the 200 medley (1:58.08) and 400 freestyle (4:00.90) relays.

Griff McGaha won the 50 freestyle (24.45) and the 100 backstroke (1:02.57) to lead the East boys. Evan Wieneke took the 100 freestyle (53.93), Ryan Singer captured the 100 breaststroke (1:06.56) and the Olympians won the 200 medley relay (1:49.73).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Trinity tops South Decatur

SEYMOUR — Class A No. 8 Trinity Lutheran forced 34 South Decatur turnovers en route to a 61-34 victory.

Abby Hackman led Trinity (17-4) with 16 points. Sydney Janes added 14 and Savannah Harweger had 13.

Hannah Ballard scored 18 points to lead South Decatur (2-17). Sierra Lang grabbed 11 rebounds.
