LISBON, Portugal — Jonas struck twice to lead Benfica to a 3-0 win over Chaves and increased his league-leading scoring tally in Portugal on Saturday.

The goals were the Brazilian’s 22nd and 23rd of the season through 19 rounds.

Benfica’s win moved the defending champions to within one point of second-place Sporting Lisbon and two behind leader FC Porto, which has a game in hand.

Jonas scored in the 13th and 19th before Pizzi Fernandez rounded off the win just after halftime.

Porto beat Tondela 1-0 Friday, when Sporting was held 1-1 at Setubal.
