Leona E. “Little Mama” Watson, 93, of Columbus, formerly of Osgood, passed away at 1pm, Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. She was born near Pleasant in Switzerland County on April 13, 1924, the daughter of Ulys and Bessie McFarland Spencer. She was married to Clint Watson on August 21, 1940 and he preceded her in death on March 1, 2011.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann Johnson of Columbus; three sons, Clark (Franka) Watson of Sentinel, Oklahoma, Paul (Karen) Watson of Dillsboro, and Norman (Karen) Watson of Pell City, Alabama; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Roy Spencer, and her sisters, Norma Lee Leap and Pearl Herring.
Mrs. Watson retired from US Shoe in Osgood.
Leona was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Versailles, of which she and Clint were founding members. She was also a member of the Osgood-Versailles Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 23rd at 1pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Carter Corbrey officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Tuesday from 11am until time of services. The Eastern Star will conduct services at 1pm Tuesday, immediately before the funeral.
Memorials may be given to the First Southern Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
