Members of the Columbus Police Department SWAT team arrested a local man after a two-hour standoff Sunday night.
Columbus police were sent to the 100 block of North Ross Street at 6:30 p.m. Sunday about a disturbance, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
The person who called police said he was doing construction work at the residence, when Lawrence T. Pushor, 62, left his home across the street and confronted him and his fiance, Harris said.
The man told police Pushor pointed a gun at the man during the altercation before going back into his residence, Harris said. Officers attempted to contact Pushor at the home but were initially unsuccessful, Harris said.
The SWAT team and crisis negotiators went to the scene and requested that Pushor leave the home, Harris said. Pushor was then taken into custody without incident at about 8:30 p.m. by the SWAT team.
Pushor was arrested on preliminary charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
