WASHINGTON — RJ Cole scored 23 points as Howard held on to beat NC A&T 90-88 in overtime on Monday. Charles Williams added 22 points for the Bison.
Cole added seven assists and six rebounds.
Kyle Foster had 12 points for Howard (5-17, 2-4 Mid-Eastern Conference). Dalique Mingo added 12 points and seven rebounds.
Howard led 41-29 at the half, but NC A&T got the better of the Bison in the second half to force overtime. The Bison inched by the Aggies in the extra period to earn the two-point win.
Davaris McGowens scored a season-high 21 points for the Aggies (12-9, 5-1), whose five-game win streak was broken. He also had 14 rebounds. Aaren Edmead added 14 points. Femi Olujobi had 14 points and 16 rebounds.
Devonte Boykins, whose 9.5 points per game heading into the matchup ranked second on the Aggies, scored 3 points. He shot 20 percent from behind the arc (1 of 5).
Howard matches up against Maryland Eastern Shore (5-17, 1-6) on the road on Saturday. NC A&T plays NC Central (11-9, 5-1) at home on Saturday.
