Herbert G. Allman

NASHVILLE, INDIANA

Herbert G. Allman, age 90, of Nashville, passed away at 12:05 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born September 10, 1927, in Brown County, to the late Henry and Bertha Allman.

Herb was retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company as an installer but spent most of his working career with Indiana Bell. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and was a member of the VFW. He married Bonita Lentz December 12, 1947, and she survives.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Garland Brook Cemetery, in the Sermon on the Mount section. The Rev. Tim Streeval will officiate and military honors will be provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. There will be no visitation hours. Memorial contributions may be made in Herb’s memory to the American Heart Association.

He is survived by his wife, Bonita; two daughters, Katherine Runyon of Indianapolis and Marilen (Danny) Nelson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers, Chester Allman and Ulysses Allman, both of Edinburgh; two sisters, Lola (Ron) Anderson of Columbus and Donna (Joe) Henson of Franklin; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- granddaughter.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jim Allman; two daughters, Debbie Hatfield and Janet McPherson; a brother, Ward Allman; and three sisters, Wilma Adair, Helen Streeval and Charlotte Benson.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
