KENNER, La. — Officials say a 58-year-old man has died after a fire at a home in Louisiana.

Jefferson Parish Coroner Dr. Gerry Cvitanovich tells The Advocate that Benjamin Ford was taken to the Ochsner Medical Center on Friday and pronounced dead there.

Officials say the Kenner Fire Department received word of the blaze Friday night.

A man who evacuated the home told firefighters his brother was trapped inside. Firefighters found Ford in an upstairs bedroom surrounded by the blaze.

Authorities did not discuss a potential cause for the fire.
