COLUMBUS
Mary June Gurthet, 87, of Columbus, passed from this life at 1:00 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2018, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient facility.
Mrs. Gurthet was a member of First United Methodist Church, Delta Zeta Sorority and Delta Theta Tau Sorority.
She was a former Girl Scout leader and Visitor Center architectural guide.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Howard Boles officiating.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018, and from 9:00 a.m. to time of service Wednesday.
Private burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, the Alzheimer’s Association or Bartholomew County Humane Society.

Mary was born May 12, 1930, in Martinsville, Indiana. She was the daughter of William J. and Pearl Melton Browdues.
She married, Eugene M. Gurthet on September 2, 1951.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years; their daughters, Libby (Jim) Arthur of Columbus and Dottie (Michael) Cameron of Louisiana; grandchildren, Abby (Mark) Caponegro, Anna Ruiz, James Austin (Kelsey) Arthur and John Gurthet Arthur; and a great-grandson, George Caponegro.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
